Google rolls out January 2020 Core Update in its Algorithm

Google keeps updating its algorithm several times a month; however, the core update gets rolled out not so often. As the new year commenced, Google also announced that it would release the new core algorithm update “The January 2020 Core Update.”

In a post on social media website Twitter, Google says: “The January 2020 Core Update is now live and will be rolling out to our various data centers over the coming days.”

Earlier, Google also talked about releasing the new core update in another tweet: “Later today, we are releasing a broad core algorithm update, as we do several times per year. It is called the January 2020 Core Update. Our guidance about such updates remains as we’ve covered before.”

As this update changes the core of the algorithm, You can expect several changes to search results, positions, and other related aspects of the SERPs. The January 2020 core update can impact on overall search results on a global scale. It is not a routine update to the algorithm targeting some specific features that the webmasters can fix immediately.

Google also suggests that the guidelines regarding this core update will remain the same as previous core updates. If you see a drop in the rankings of certain webpages and queries, there is nothing to feel alarmed as the core update creates some ripples in the SERPs.

If the drops remain for a longer period, you need to work on your website as the core update must have an impact on your rankings in an adverse way.

You may notice some side effects of this January 2020 core update, including drops or gains in search rankings. You must pay attention to these changes to keep your rankings intact.
